The field app

The field app is how people on site check in, sign on to permits, report incidents and answer a muster. It runs on Android phones.

Your organization sends you the link to install the app. Sign in once with your email and password. After that the phone remembers you, so the app opens straight into your day, with no signal too. It asks for the phone’s own unlock when you open it and after two minutes away, so a phone left on a bench approves nothing.

The bar at the bottom has four tabs:

  • Home: today’s work, check-in, and Report incident.
  • Work: the permits and jobs you are on.
  • Pass: your site pass and certificates, to show at the gate.
  • More: Approvals, Alerts, and You, where you set your language and modes.

Everything you do is saved on the phone first and sent the moment there is signal: check-ins, sign-ons, incident reports, muster marks and SOS. The app tells you when something is waiting to send.

On the You tab:

  • Glove mode makes buttons bigger and removes press-and-hold.
  • Sunlight mode turns up the contrast for bright daylight.

The app speaks English for now, more languages coming soon. Change it on the You tab.

  • SOS. While you are checked in, an SOS button sits over every screen. Hold it to send an SOS; in glove mode, tap it and a countdown starts, with a button to stop it. With no signal, it sounds a siren and sends the moment there is any.
  • Muster. When a muster is called, go to your muster point. The app finds where you are, with no signal too. At the point, tap I’m safe so the headcount has you; it is saved on the phone and sent with signal. If you can’t get there, find a marshal and they will mark you.

Choose Report incident on Home. You can type or speak your report. If speaking is switched off, your organization’s admin can switch it on.
